ARENCIA Retinal Booster Shot uses retinal — retinaldehyde — rather than retinol. Retinal is one conversion step closer to retinoic acid, which is why it works faster at a lower concentration; here it sits at 200 ppm, a level built for people starting out rather than for tolerance-building veterans.

What makes it wearable is what surrounds the retinal: a ceramide-cholesterol-fatty-acid barrier complex, ectoin, bakuchiol and centella. Caffeine brightens a tired-looking face. The texture is a light cream-serum that layers under moisturizer without pilling.

Evening. If you are new to retinoids, start every other night for the first two weeks, then build to nightly.

1. Cleanse and tone, then let skin dry fully — applying a retinoid to damp skin increases irritation.
2. Apply a thin layer over the face, or only on the areas with texture you want to work on.
3. Follow with moisturizer. On the first few nights, applying moisturizer first and the serum over it will soften the effect further.
4. Always use sunscreen the next morning.

Do not use on the same night as vitamin C, exfoliating acids or other strong actives, and do not apply straight after exfoliating. Some tingling is normal; if it stings or flakes, reduce the frequency and add a plain soothing moisturizer.

Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Do not apply to broken skin. Patch test before first use.
