SKINFOOD Egg White Perfect Pore Cleansing Foam is the pore cleanser from the brand that has been putting food on skin since 1957. Egg white has been a Korean home remedy for tight-looking pores for generations; here it sits in a dense, creamy soap-base foam that genuinely clears out a day's worth of sebum.

It is a classic potassium-hydroxide soap foam with salicylic acid and sulfur worked in, so it cleans thoroughly — best for oily and combination skin, or as the second step of an evening double cleanse. Expect a clean, slightly squeaky finish; olive oil and cetearyl olivate stop it going further than that.

Morning and/or evening, on damp skin.

1. Squeeze a small amount (about 1 cm) into wet palms.
2. Work up a dense lather with lukewarm water before it touches the face — lathering in the hands first is what makes a soap-base foam gentle.
3. Massage over the face for 30 seconds, concentrating on the nose, chin and forehead.
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
5. Follow with toner and the rest of your routine.

In the evening, use after an oil cleanser or cleansing balm if you wear makeup or sunscreen.

If your skin is dry or sensitive, use it in the evening only — the salicylic acid and sulfur make this a thorough cleanser.
